ACL Injury Prevention Program

First, some facts about the ACL

  • The ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) stabilizes the knee joint by attaching to the tibia and femur

  • There are 150,000-250,000 ACL injuries annually

  • Accounts for more than $800 million in US health-care costs each year

  • Football, soccer, basketball, and volleyball are the highest risk sports

  • 6 times higher injury rate in female athletes

  • 72% of ACL injuries are non-contact mechanisms such as pivoting, cutting, side stepping, jumping/landing, and large knee abduction angles (valgus). Only 28% of ACL injuries are from contact with other players.

Modern Movement's Program Benefits

  • Improved neuromuscular control, increased strength, increased proprioception, and improved core stability through this program can lead to less injuries, improved performance, and more winning

  • Improved athletic performance by enhancing agility, speed, and power through strengthening the lower body and improving neuromuscular control

  • Reduced risk of reinjury by participating in a targeted prevention program

  • Cost savings by avoiding the much greater costs associated with injury recovery and rehabilitation

  • Long-term health benefits through improved strength, balance, and neuromuscular control, which can help athletes avoid a wide range of lower body injuries

  • Improved confidence and mental toughness by knowing that they are taking proactive steps to prevent injuries and alleviate anxiety or fear of reinjury
